A Wilmington home is about to get a green gut rehab and expects to be the first LEED certified gut rehab in the state and only the 31st in the country.
Some of the strategies they aim to employ include:
- Harvesting rain from the roof for irrigation and flushing toilets.
- Using ground-mounted photovoltaic panels to generate 3 kilowatts for a net zero energy home.
- Eliminating the garage in favor of a carport to avoid the potential contamination of indoor air.
- Preparing an operating manual for the home.
